Wall relief by Henk Tieman preserved for a future in Merwede
Published at

The iconic wall artwork by Henk Tieman, which has adorned the former UWV building at Europalaan 20 since 1980, has been carefully removed and placed in storage. This ensures its preservation for the city, with the intention of finding it a new home in Merwede. The municipality of Utrecht, which owns the artwork, has stored it in the municipal art depot at Tractieweg.
The removal was carried out by a specialist in monumental ceramic tile work. Since the artwork consists of several sections, it was also dismantled in parts.
Through the Gemene Grond art program, plans are currently being explored for how the artwork can once again play a role in Merwede.
