– De Voorkamer
De Voorkamer
From 12:00De Voorkamer on the Kanaalstraat opens its doors for a Syrian lunch catered by Maha’s Kitchen. Come and meet various residents, interested parties, entrepreneurs and Gemene Grond. Through discussions, theatre and music we’ll be talking about the future and the public space for art and culture in Lombok and on Westplein square. Gemene Grond will give an introduction to what ‘commons’ are and how it plans to implement this.
Minem Sezgin will share strategies and ideas from her book No Seat at the Table, a fictional graphic novel about the local and global impact of gentrification on residents of Turkish and Dutch cities. The book looks at four neighbourhoods affected by this phenomenon: Piyalepaša in Istanbul, Ismetpasa in Ankara, Amsterdam’s Kolenkit neighbourhood and Lombok in Utrecht.
