Suzanne Sanders
I am an art historian working as an independent curator, consultant and mediator. I focus mainly on inter- and transdisciplinary art practices and appropriate contemporary organisational forms. I do this by bringing together diverse parties and researching innovative ways of working together based on core values such as curiosity, generosity and polyphony. As advisor for art in public space for the municipality of Utrecht, I laid the foundation for the commons art programme Common Ground together with fellow curator Carlijn Diesfeldt and work on the realisation of several contemporary monuments. I co-founded artist residency Atelier AM Almere, was director of the Frankendael Foundation and have been City Curator for the Municipality of Amsterdam since 2022. I worked with Public Art Amsterdam, the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik, TAAK, the Brakke Grond and the Frans Hals Museum, among others.
