It’s a rainy Monday evening, yet the Kunstuitleen is filling up for the 18th edition of Art Meat, the networking event for art professionals in Utrecht. The program features three presentations. The Kunstuitleen hosts the evening, starting with a presentation about their history, organization, and activities, such as the open call for young creators. Next, artist Joyce Overheul speaks about her engaged practice, craftsmanship, entrepreneurship, and the upcoming exhibition Live, Laugh, Leidmotief at the Centraal Museum. In between, Berthe Schoonman, chair of Art Utrecht, updates the audience on the results of the cultural policy and its (painful) consequences for the cultural ecosystem in Utrecht. Lastly, we, as Gemene Grond, take the floor. In a brief introduction, we inform the audience about our working method, the development areas we are involved in, and the partners we collaborate with. We conclude with an invitation to the first presentation of ‘Wat Maakt West’ on September 27 at Westplein. The evening ends with a networking drink, providing plenty of conversation topics.
