Gemene Grond is active in these areas of West Utrecht: Lombok, Merwede and the Jaarbeursplein vicinity
LOMBOKPLEIN
In 2023 Westplein is still a busy asphalted area with a lot of traffic and cyclists. The Westplein comprises the area starting at the Daalsetunnel and Vleutenseweg up until the Croeselaan, Leidseweg and Graadt van Roggenweg. The Graadt van Roggenweg will be redeveloped and diverted. This newly redeveloped part of the city has been provisionally renamed Lombokplein which will be flanked by a park on the northern side of the Leidse Rijn.
Beurskwartier
From 2023 Utrecht’s city centre will be expanded to include the new Beurskwartier, situated between Croeselaan, Van Zijstweg and Graadt van Roggenweg.
MERWEDE
Between the Merwede canal and Park Transwijk, construction work has started on the new residential area of Merwede. This former industrial zone has been designed as a car-free neighbourhood with housing and various facilities including restaurants and cafes, a meeting centre, a covered market and allotments for urban farming.
